Charlotte was born in 1956 in Basel where she's been living ever since and where she did part of her acting training. She also trained in Berlin.
Charlotte has been working as part of the standing ensemble at numerous theatres, including Theater Basel, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Theater am Neumarkt Zürich, Stadttheater Bern, as well as working freelance for film and TV. Her theatre roles range from the great classics (Gertrude in Hamlet, Mother in Brand), to musical (Mrs Higgins in My Fair Lady) and comedy (Berta in Boeing Boeing) to cabaret and chanson evenings. She also regularly works as a TV and radio presenter. Charlotte played the lead role of Marianne in Luki Frieden's feature film November and from 2000 to 2005 she appeared every Sunday night as Jacky Ewald in the TV sitcom Café Bâle. Other television work includes Tod einer Ärztin, Hunkeler macht Sachen, Der Fall Livius and Silberkiesel – Hunkeler tritt ab, all based on the crime novels by Hansjörg Schneider, where she plays Hedwig, the life-partner of commissioner Peter Hunkeler, played by Mathias Gnädinger. In October 2010 Charlotte will appear in Schiffbruch by Heinz Stalder at the Theater Überland in Langenthal and in February/March 2011 she'll be taking part in the legendary Drummeli at the Musical-Theater Basel. March 2011 sees the premiere of her new solo cabaret show, directed by Paul Steinmann, at the Theater im Teufelhof, Basel. |
